AMPAC-ISP EUROPE UPGRADES U.K. ENGINE TESTING FACILITY

AMPAC-ISP (UK) Westcott Ltd., part of AMPAC-ISP Europe, has recently upgraded our F-Site Hot Fire Test Facility. This test facility is used for hot-firing small monopropellant and bipropellant rocket engines up to 20N thrust in vacuum. Complete with state of the art high speed digital data acquisition system and thermal imaging, the new site promises to deliver faster engine turnaround and more complete and accurate data to AMPAC-ISP's customers. The addition of an electronic pressure regulation control system guarantees a hot fire inlet pressures are more accurate. The site also has been upgraded with new propellant run tanks, feed system and propellant temperature conditioning systems providing a more robust and reliable engine test environment.

Located in Westcott, U.K., our company has a long and prestigious heritage in the aerospace and defence industries. Established by the U.K. government in 1945 specifically for the development of technologies associated with guided weapons and propulsion systems, the company’s work included both solid and liquid propulsion projects. Our company later became part of the Royal Ordnance Factories, developing liquid propellant projects including the LEROS family of apogee engines and the LTT attitude control engine. Our Westcott division manufactures MONARC®, LTT and LEROS® engines, and offers propellant manufacturing and ground support. Our highly skilled staff and well-equipped facility are also available on a sub-contract basis to support precision manufacturing and assembly, high-energy x-ray inspection and propellant processing for launch support. AMPAC-ISP Europe operates three facilities located in Westcott and Cheltenham, U.K., and Dublin, Ireland. Other products produced by AMPAC-ISP Europe include valves, regulators and structural components for satellites and launch vehicles.

A brief mission list of the Apogee engines that Westcott has flown for NASA/U.S. is below:

  1. Mars Global Surveyor (LEROS 1b)

  2. Mars Odyssey (LEROS 1b)

  3. Mercury Messenger (LEROS 1b)

  4. NEAR (Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous – LEROS 1)
